Happy October! First of all, I want to apologize to my faithful blog readers for taking so long to put a new post up. I'm sure both of you will forgive me! My basic excuse is that not much has been happening here. Jason has had to work a lot in the past two weeks since fall has started bringing bigger waves near the coast. Aiden has been ill for the past week, then I came down with a cold on Thursday. When I am sick, I crave fruit smoothies and cheeseburgers. So yesterday I bought myself a fruit smoothie and Jason grilled cheeseburgers for dinner. Yes, our life is that boring that I am listing our menu on our blog! Anyway, in the picture above you see my two cuties holding our two cute pumpkins we grew! We cut them off the vines today and will probably carve them in a few weeks.

This picture is of a painted lady butterfly on Autumn's arm! We mail-ordered larvae which came in mid-September. The caterpillars grew fatter and fatter and finally formed chrysalides, then the butterflies emerged to our delight! The first few days after they "hatched" they would crawl on our fingers, but after awhile they were too fluttery we released them into the wilds of Petaluma. If any of you homeschool moms are reading this, I highly recommend this project. It is just so neat to feel a butterfly on your finger and watch their probiscus (tongue) curl in and out!

Lastly, I let the children watch "Harry Potter and the Scorcerer's Stone" and because they play "Wizard's Chess" in the movie, here are Asher and Autumn playing regular chess. It amazed me to find them playing it together because I myself have no clue how to play! Anyway, they also have been casting spells at each other, using their corn dog sticks as wands and making up gibberish words.
That's all for now, hopefully more exciting things will happen to us this week!
