Then we got to business. I started by asking them what they think education is, which led to a discussion about whose responsibility it was (mine or theirs) to educate themselves. I am hoping to get them to see that their schoolwork is their responsibility, because it is their life they are educating themselves for. Then we talked about:
What their strongest subject was,
what their weakest subject was,
what we've done so far that they've liked,
what they'd like to change or start new,
what their career goals are,
what their goals are for this year, etc.
I wrote all their answers down and I hope to make this a yearly practice! We had great conversations and it made us all very excited about the coming school year. By the way, Asher's request was more history and he would like to design lego sets for a career. Autumn wants lots more art and would either like to be a missionary or a waitress when she grows up!

I can just imagine Asher designing amazing lego sets! He is so creative...and Autumn will be a missionary even if she is a waitress because she has it in her heart to tell others about Jesus!
I can just imagine Asher designing the most amazing Lego sets... and I am sure Autumn will be a missionary even if she does become a waitress...because it doesn't matter what profession you chose...being a missionary can fit into them all if it is in your heart!
