Turtle Bay Exploratorium

On Friday we met Jason's parents and sister in Redding to pick up Asher. He had a very fun week staying with Grammy and Papa all by himself. He got to go camping, hiking, fishing, plus watched lots of Star Trek and ate a lot! (So I'm told!) But I was glad to get him back with us!

We decided to meet and spend the day at a cool museum that is there called Turtle Bay. For lunch we grilled hamburgers and hot dogs on a portable grill in the parking lot! Here is Neeley and the kids enjoying the "tailgate" party! On arriving at the museum we first went to an outdoor animal show with semi-trained birds and small animals. (I say semi-trained because a few of them didn't really do what they were supposed to and one vulture landed on a guy's head in the audience!) Asher was picked to go up and help wake up a little owl. He was so cute! (both the owl and Asher)
Inside the museum was an exhibit of giant lego creations of wierd, artsy things. Asher is next to a lego man that is opening his chest to reveal legos. I thought it was appropriate for Asher, since I believe he is made of legos inside as well.

And this is a full skeleton of a T-Rex named Sue. Apparently, she travels around a lot so you might see her at a museum near you. I couldn't use a flash so the picture is blurry. (I'm not that good of a photographer to compensate it somehow)

And here is Neeley and Autumn crossing the sundial bridge. I couldn't get a good picture of it; it was just too big! But it was really pretty and cool.

Finally after a long, hot, fun day we said good-bye and headed for home. That was the official last of summer; we will start school on Tuesday. Pray for me!

What a fun day! Jason's comments made it worth the trip...Next year, Lord willing, we should go to the water park. We stayed with Neeley until about 6:30pm. We ALL had ice cream bars at Costco! Anyway, thank you for letting us have Asher for the week. Can't wait to do it again.
