Happy Resurrection Day!
The children and I are celebrating Easter today (Jason had to work) and made Resurrection rolls. We took a large marshmellow, cut it in half, then rolled it in butter and cinnamon sugar. Then we wrapped the marshmellow in crescent roll dough and baked it. The marshmellow is supposed to represent Jesus, the spotless lamb. The butter, cinnamon sugar, and dough represent the oil, spices, and linen He was wrapped in. The oven is the tomb. (Asher pretended to stand guard like a Roman soldier) The marshmellow melts inside, leaving an empty hole. Aiden was so surprised that the marshmellow was gone (even though we did this last year!) and it was so neat to remind him that Jesus was gone as well when the women came to see His body.
Later, we read The Parable of the Lily and Aiden made a lily from his cut-out handprint wrapped around a pipe cleaner.
