Christ, Our Redeemer

Today is Easter! After a wonderful breakfast and church service, we spent the day playing and relaxing. We did some fun things like decorate eggs:
We also had an egg hunt, which Asher won!
The eggs we used for the hunt have little things inside them that represent the story of the Resurrection. Here is Autumn holding a little cup and bread from the last supper:
Lastly, we had our Easter meal which is a hybrid of a Passover Feast. In a real Passover seder there are symbolic foods eaten to remember the Passover of the Jews, their divine deliverance from slavery from the Egyptians. We do a similar meal in celebration:
Traditionally, they serve bitter herbs to remember the years of bitter slavery. We have salad to represent our bitter herbs, which is the bitterness of sin in our hearts.
We have Matzo bread, which is unleavened bread. The Jews had to leave Egypt in a hurry, they couldn't wait for the leaven (yeast) to rise their bread. Leaven also represents sin in the Bible, so unleavened bread at our table represents our sinless Savior. At His last passover (the last supper) He passed the bread and said, "Take, eat; this is My body broken for you."
The cups of wine at Passover are cups of blessing; we serve grape juice. For us it represents the shed blood of Christ who said, "The cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood." Under the new covenant, we are forgiven and cleansed by the sacrifice of Christ on behalf of those who believe.
Lastly, we have lamb to represent, of course, Christ. He is "the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world". He is our Redeemer, who purchased our forgiveness with His own blood on the cross.

"Blessed Redeemer" by Casting Crowns

Up Calvary's mountain one dreadful morn
Walked Christ my Savior, weary and worn.
Facing for sinners, death on the cross
That He might save them from endless loss.

"Father, forgive them," my Savior prayed,
Even while His lifeblood flowed fast away.
Praying for sinners while in such woe
No one but Jesus ever loved so.

Blessed Redeemer! Precious Redeemer!
Seems now I see Him on Calvary's tree:
Wounded and bleeding, for sinners pleading
Blind and unheeding, dying for me.

Oh, how I love Him, Savior and Friend,
How can my praises ever find end?
Through years unnumbered on Heaven's shore
My songs shall praise Him forevermore.

Blessed Redeemer! Precious Redeemer!
Seems now I see Him on Calvary's tree:
Wounded and bleeding, for sinners pleading
Blind and unheeding, dying for me!
