Our church Christmas play is tomorrow night!
I knew I wouldn't be able to take pictures during the play, so I took pictures at Sunday's dress rehearsal.
The play is called "The Lamb and the Shepherd" and was written by our
pastor's wife. It is a story of a group of shepherds living near Bethlehem who
are mistreated because of their occupation.
Interspersed in the scenes are Scripture passages being
acted out about Mary and Joseph.
Here, the angel is announcing the news to Mary (Autumn)
While the shepherds are in the wilderness (Asher is the head shepherd, Aiden
is a shepherd boy) they complain about their lot in life, get attacked by
bears, and are visited by other shepherds who tell them
of all the prophecies of the coming Messiah. (Autumn is also
a visitor and has to recite a bunch of passages from Isaiah!)

Can you guess what happens in the middle of the night?
The angels appear to them, announcing the birth of Christ
and they search until they find the manger.

The last line of the play is when Asher
sees the baby Jesus and says,
"Behold, the Lamb and the Shepherd...
the Sacrifice and the Savior...
the Servant, and yet the King.
This is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes!"
The play has been a lot of work (I'm directing it
this year) but I cannot think of a better
way to celebrate Christmas!
