Our Life Has Changed....

...and is about to change even more.

In early November (about the time of my last post), we took in a 6 week old foster baby. We have had our foster care license for over a year with the intent of possibly adopting from the foster care system, but only did a short weekend "gig" before this. When the email came to us (back in November) that they needed an immediate placement for a 6 week old baby and his 2 year old sister we offered ourselves to take the baby. At that time, we thought we would only have him for the weekend.

It has now been over two months! Taking care of baby "D" has been a huge joy and blessing. We all love him and enjoy his new tricks every day. His other names are "babykins" and "spit-up Smurf".

Meanwhile, his older sister has been in another foster home. We watched her for a week when her foster Mom went out of town and "overwhelming and exhausting" would describe that week. She is a very sweet girl but....she's 2. As most people know, it is hard work just keeping a 2 year old alive all day long. At that point we just didn't feel like we could take her.

But around Christmas time, the Lord laid it on our hearts that we need to "strategically place ourselves in the path of suffering" and depend on Him for strength, wisdom, and energy. We decided that we should take her and love her and show our love for Christ by opening our home to her. As I write this, we are going to leave in 30 minutes to go pick her up.

So now our lives will be different. These precious new children will be with us for how long God wants. We will be parents of 5 (gasp!) and be back in serious diaper mode again. Please pray that Christ gives us grace, grace, and more grace for our weakness.
