This week school ended for the year.
Yay!
So our school had a presentation night, with skits
and performances.
Here Autumn is teaching all us dumb clucks
what a logical fallacy is.
Aiden is reading a paragraph of a story he wrote.
His teacher had her students work on
looking up with facial expressions while
they read and Aiden was hilarious!
Aiden was also in a musical story, playing
a percussion instrument while the teacher read aloud
and was "Little John" in a Robin Hood play.
Since I was directing the Robin Hood play, I couldn't
really take pictures because most of the kids forgot
their lines and where they were supposed to stand!
I have now directed 5 children's plays and sadly,
the Robin Hood play was the first one to tank.
I guess the Lord needed to teach me some humility!!!
This play below: "A British Parse Farce"
was a great success, however!
It was a combined British Literature (which I taught)
and Grammar skit, wherein the teens had to be their
favorite Brit Lit character while attempting to diagram
the first sentence of the Declaration of Independence!
I'm sure the audience had no idea what they
were talking about, but the kids were hilarious in their roles.
Asher was the Artful Dodger from Oliver Twist, Autumn
was Bertie Wooster (see Jeeves behind in the back) from Jeeves and Wooster,
and the other lad in the picture was Professor Higgins
from Pygmalion.
We also had Peter Pan, Beowulf, Sherlock Holmes,
and the Mad Hatter! It was a hoot :)
There was also a small performance of "The Three Little
Pigs" in Shakespearean language. (they copied it
from the youtube video...look it up if you haven't seen it)
Asher was pig two.
Lastly, (you can see why I'm so glad it's over)
each student made a display of all their
school work, prizes being given to the best
displays. I had thought my children did great on their
displays until I got there and the competition blew them
out of the water!!! Other people completely painted
their boards, made themes, added scrapbook paper, etc.
We'll work harder next year....maybe.
