Some Stinky News

Thursday morning the kids and I woke up to a smell. Not being sure what it was, I searched for the source and called Jason (on duty) to help me figure out what it could be and if it was dangerous.

It got worse as the day went on.

Friday morning Jason came home to the smell. He crawled under the house searching for a dead animal or perhaps the gateway to Hades, but found nothing. He finally found the epicenter of the smell in a corner of our living room. That night we slept with our bedroom doors closed and Saturday morning when we opened the door, Bam, the smell hit us so hard we wanted to puke.

At this point we decided that it smelled a lot like a skunk, or rather a herd of mutant Amazon skunks, so we called our landlords to do something about it. Meanwhile, we had a church conference to go to. Everyone told us we smelled like skunks. In fact a sweet gal said, "Ugh! I think a skunk sprayed outside!" when she was talking to me. Isn't the Lord so good to keep us from exalting ourselves?

A trapper came to the house and set up traps but as yet nothing has been caught. The smell has also slowly abated overnight, but our loving pastor still let us know we smelled skunky today.

Purely coincidentally, Autumn put a skunk poem on her blog today.
