Our Experimental Diet

I mentioned a few blogs ago that we went on an experimental diet in May, swearing off dairy, wheat, and sugar in hopes of alleviating some health issues. The results have been non-conclusive, meaning we kind of feel better in some areas but no night-and-day obvious areas. (My husband did drop a pant size, but he would tell you it was because he was basically starving all month.)

Well, it turned June this week and I was asked, "it's been a month already, can we go back to eating like normal people?"

After speaking with my health counselor/nutritionist/mother-in-law I decided that we would add back in cultured dairy first (cheese & yogurt) and see what happened. Two things happened: my allergy-morning sore throat came back immediately and Aiden became really crazy again. (We had noticed that he had been much calmer lately.) So he and I went backed off the cheese to test it. Does this mean he and I need to go off dairy for all time? I don't know!

I'm still experimenting. Any thoughts?

Stuart has had sinus congestion pretty much every night of his adult life... going off dairy eliminated the congestion. He did it for a couple years then decided he'd rather be eat ice cream and have congestion. I will be curious to see what you decide to do!
