Summer Schooling

Summer is the perfect time to homeschool, in my opinion.
The days are long, the extra stuff like classes, Bible studies, and sports
are usually gone and I generally feel less stressed.
The past few weeks we have enjoyed some summer schooling,
like making our own moons when learning about Galileo:
(ps do you notice anything different about Asher? leave a comment to guess!)
Autumn, Aiden, and I are wrapping up our year of Zoology by
doing a unit study on dinosaurs. Aiden made this flying pterodactyl
himself! His face looks crazy because he's actually
making the sound a pterodactyl makes.
We are also spending more time outside which leads to way
more nature learning. Autumn and Asher are digging for little
crabs at the beach.
Other things we're doing for summer school:
*math drills for everyone
*Autumn is writing, typing, & editing her novel
*Aiden is still working on phonics and dictation (he enjoys
dictation, oddly enough)
*Asher is getting a head start on his 8th grade English course
*my favorite.....reading aloud for an hour each morning!
We hope to get through Our Island Story by HE Marshall this summer,
a delightful book of English history.
I say, I just love doing me accents, don't I?
