Our Adoption

I wanted to let you know what is going on with our adoption. Mostly it is just still waiting! The time it is taking for China to give child referrals to the US agencies is at a snail's pace and slowing. This week however our agency announced they would start doing adoptions through some other countries. This filled me with hope because I thought maybe we could switch countries and get a child sooner. However after a few days of leaving messages I finally talked to someone there who informed me that we would not be able to switch countries, but could do simultaneous adoptions with them. They would give us a discount, but it would still be basically starting over again. Since this would mean a lot of work and a lot more money, I was very discouraged! It was clear to us that again, God just wants us to wait for His perfect timing on the China adoption. (Unless of course we come into a windfall tomorrow!)

Did you know that adoption is a picture of our relationship with God? The Bible says that we, as sinners, were not part of God's family but when we have asked Christ to be our Savior and Lord we are forgiven and "adopted" in His family. Ephesians 1 says:

"In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through

Jesus Christ to Himself. In Him we have redemption

through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses,

according to the riches of His grace which He lavished

on us."

Isn't that an awesome thought to prepare us for Easter?
